Ross Calvin is an active performer and music instructor in the Northern Virginia area, offering guitar and voice lessons in person and online since 2015.

A passionate musician and lover of many genres of music, including opera, musical theatre, rock and roll, blues, pop, sacred and traditional, Ross loves to share his art with audiences and students of all ages.

Teaching

Ross has been teaching music for over 10 years and offers private lessons in voice and guitar. His approach combines technical instruction with creative support, providing students with the tools to develop foundational skills and a strong understanding of music theory. Ross encourages curiosity and exploration, helping students build confidence while discovering their unique musical interests and personal style. He also offers guidance for public performance and audition preparation.Ross holds a Bachelors of Music in Vocal Performance from George Mason University, where he studied under Richard Leech, John Aler, and Dr. Gene Galvin.Reach out below for your free trial lesson!

Ross has performed leading roles spanning the Classical period to contemporary opera.His credits include Gabriel von Eisenstein in Strauss II's Die Fledermaus, Mr. Angel in Mozart's The Impresario, Joseph Haydn in Steven Stucky's The Classical Style, and Pablo Picasso in Ricky Ian Gordon's 27.

Lessons are billed monthly, due on the 1st of the month.

Lesson Policy

Note: Lessons are designed and intended to be fun. These are YOUR lessons, and I will do my best to accommodate each student as appropriate to their unique needs and goals.Students will be required to prepare for each lesson, including practicing assigned music, scales, and exercises, and to maintain a weekly practice log (to be arranged on an individual basis, as every student learns in their own way).Payment is due on the first of each month in which lessons take place. An invoice will be sent by the 15th of the month prior. New lesson payments are due upon sign up. Chronic delay in payment may result in lesson cancellation and/or collection action.If a student must miss a lesson, a 24-hour prior notice must be given. Lessons canceled with less than a 24-hour notice will be forfeited. Lesson credits will be given only in the event of an emergency, and the teacher must be notified as soon as possible.Missed lessons that are eligible for rescheduling must be made up within 90 days. It is the student's responsibility to arrange a makeup time with the teacher. If I am unable to provide a makeup lesson, the lesson fee will be credited to the student to cover a future lesson.
